Together We Can Do More

On Sunday, May 17th from 1:00-4:00PM, St. Matthew has targeted 1,200 Barrington Village households (via a mailed postcard) to offer to pick-up their donated can and dry non-perishable foods to donate to a local food pantry. Please just leave them on your front porch, and we will be by within that time window to pick them up. If somehow we miss your household that Sunday, please call the church at 847.382.7002 and leave a voicemail with your address. We will be by that evening to pick your food donation up.

After calling local food pantries, we determined that the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry in Carpentersville could handle a larger donation of food both in terms of storage capacity (of thousands of items) and having a larger weekly need by local families. We were told around 650+ families a month are now using that food bank (165 visits per a week by clients).

On May 17th, starting at 1PM our gym doors will be open in the back parking lot to accept food donations from others in the community we did not reach out to via postcard mailing. Once all the donations are gathered, we will sort through all items and make sure expiration dates are not passed, then gather everything and take it to the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry. Please consider donating items your own family would enjoy.

We can do more together as a community. St. Matthew is happy to be able to organize this effort with our Barrington neighbors as a way we can collectively love our neighbors in their increased need during this unprecedented time.
