Ysleta Lutheran Mission ~ El Paso, Texas
Latest News & Info:
This year’s Fall Mission Trip will have a two-fold purpose: (a) to provide medical care through free clinics in Juarez, Mexico; and (b) to complete a construction project which will aid the ministry efforts in Juarez. The Lord has blessed our mission partnership with the Rev. Jose Hernandez and the people of Juarez for nearly 15 years and we pray for His continued blessing and protective hand on this year’s team.
Is it SAFE to Cross the Border?
While there certainly is risk in traveling into Juarez, we plan to take all necessary precautions and will continue to monitor U.S. Government travel advisories. Our travel into Mexico is fairly limited and during daylight hours only. That being said, the safety of our team is a high priority and we will continue to assess the situation leading up to and during the mission trip. If you have questions about the risks involved, please contact Dave Moll at 847.382.7002. Where Do We Stay?
The mission team will once again be traveling to Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, Texas. YLM’s ministry encompasses several sites both in Mexico and El Paso. Our team will be housed at YLM in dormitory style lodging. Visit www.ylm.org for more info. What Are We Doing?
This year’s trip will include two servant opportunities. We will operate a medical clinic at Santisima Trinidad Lutheran Church in Zaragosa, which is a community on the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico. Depending on our medical staffing levels, we may open 1-2 satellite clinics. Our second servant opportunity will be a construction project in Juarez. There are continually projects that need to be done at one of Pastor Hernandez’ various ministry sites. Last year, the 5-person team built a lean-to structure which was instrumental in the launch of a new mission site—San Pablo y San Pedro. As we get closer to our mission trip dates, we’ll finalize our construction project.
Who Can Go on the Trip?
While this trip is sponsored by St. Matthew Lutheran Church, anyone (age 18+) with a willing heart for service is welcome to join us. Medical or construction skills are not necessary to join this team … we have a place for everyone! How Do We Get There?

YES. Effective June 1, 2009, all travel to/from Mexico requires a valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card. For more information, visit http://travel.state.gov. How Much Does It Cost?
